Among Pagans, profound anger at Christianity is not uncommon. Sometimes this stems from some sort of shaming, often verbal. This might have taken the form of being told one was evil. My step-daughter [who is not Pagan] told us that she got more than one incident of being set down at the kitchen table where she was informed by her mother and step-father that she was going to go to hell if she didn't accept Jesus into her heart and let go of evil. Her brother confirmed these accounts. I've heard similar stories from Pagans. I'm certain that Christians who do this don't see it as abuse.

But I've heard too many stories like this, some of which included actual beatings. If one is going to convince a child of the rightness of the path, this isn't going to work on an independent-minded young person.
